This year's study will explore the Song of Songs, one of the shortest and most controversial books of Scripture.
The sessions will be led by Igal German, a PhD candidate in Old Testament Studies at the University of Toronto.
"Heaven forbid that any man in Israel ever disputed that the Song of Songs is holy. For the whole world is not worth the day on which the Song of Songs was given to Israel, for all the Writings are holy and the Song of Songs is holy of holies."
- Rabbi Akiba
In Jewish and Christian traditions the book has been interpreted in numerous and even provoking ways.
The sessions begin with dinner at the Rectory at 6 pm, and the study runs from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. Donations are welcome.
Monday, November 23, 30, December 7, 14.
