EDUCATION EVENT: THE SACRAMENT OF MEMORY with REV’D. DR. Gary Thorne

Saturday, Feb. 2, 11 a.m.

As a continuation of events to mark our 125th anniversary, the Rev’d Dr Gary Thorne will be joining us to deliver a lecture entitled “The Sacrament of Memory.” All are welcome as we reflect together upon the significance of memory in Christian thought and Church practice. 

The Rev’d Dr Gary Thorne is currently Chaplain at Huron University College in London, Ontario. Previously, he served as chaplain to both King’s College and Dalhousie University for thirteen years. 

Gary has a BA (Philosophy) from Acadia University and Aberdeen University, an M.A. (Philosophy) from Dalhousie University, an M.A. (Classics) from Dalhousie University, an M.Div. from the Atlantic School of Theology, and a Ph.D. (Theology) from Durham University. 

He is retired with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel from the Canadian Armed Forces, having received several decorations as a result of his service, including a tour with the United Nations Observer Force in the Golan Heights. Revd Dr. Thorne is the recipient of three honorary doctorates, as well as the Queen Elizabeth Golden Jubilee Medal and the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal.

PRE-LENTEN BIBLE STUDY ON THE APOSTLE’S CREED with BISHOP JENNY ANDISON

On the evenings of February 6, 13, and 20, Bishop Jenny Andison will be facilitating a Bible study in the Parish Hall at St. Thomas’s. More details will be available later. This series will be open to everyone.
