Prayer & Care Requests | Healing Mass
Healing Mass on Tuesdays
Anointing for healing is available at Low Mass on Tuesday. If you wish to be anointed, simply remain at the communion rail after all have received and the Celebrant will lay hands on you and anoint you. Anyone who wishes to stand in solidarity with you may also surround you and place their hands on your shoulders or pray for you from the pews. If you wish to be anointed privately after the Mass, please indicate this to the Celebrant by visiting the vestry prior to the Mass, if possible, or inform the Celebrant of your desire when you come to the rail to receive communion or a blessing.
Prayer & Care: Requesting Intercessions
When adding someone to the intercessions, please use the Prayer and Care request form via the button linked below to ensure that a person is included (1) on the weekly intercessions list to be prayed for daily at Mass and/or (2) in the private prayers of our prayer and care team. The form also includes an opportunity to request follow-up if you or someone you know would benefit from a clergy call or visit. Or you can send an e-mail to prayerandcare@stthomas.on.ca. Either method ensures the right people will see the information.
If at all possible, please let us know by Friday morning about any requests to be added to the Sunday intercessions. The list is updated each Friday.
Although some people have requested that we include last names in the intercessions, we are obliged to continue to use first names only because of privacy concerns (which includes broadcasting full names for all to hear on the livestream). If you don’t know for whom you are praying, imagine all of the people you know with that first name and pray for them, and be assured that God knows who we’re mentioning!
We are also instituting a policy that unless we hear otherwise, people will remain on the intercessions for the sick and general prayers for a maximum of two months (the exception being chronically ill parishioners known to the clergy).
Names may be renewed every two months by emailing prayerandcare@stthomas.on.ca and providing an update.
As for names that are written in on any given day, we’re happy to include them in the intercessions for the day on which they are written, but unless we hear from whomever has written the name, they will not be included on an ongoing basis. To include anyone on an ongoing basis, please use the Prayer and Care request form (linked on the home page of our website and linked above in this e-newsletter).
