Volunteer Opportunities

Have you been wanting to get more involved with the inner workings of St. Thomas’s? There are so many possibilities:

  • We are always seeking good lectors, particularly for the 9:30 services. That service could also use a few more greeters and servers. Training will be provided. Speak to Fr. Micah if you’re interested.

  • Do you enjoy St. Thomas’s Evensong services? It’s helpful to the clergy if lay people read the lessons. If you’re interested, please speak with Fr. Micah.

  • Serving as a sidesperson is an excellent way to meet other parishioners. To lend a hand as a greeter at the 9:30 service, speak with Fr. Micah; if you’re interested in becoming a sidesperson for the 11:00 am service, speak to Anneli Pekkonen; if you’re more interested in serving this position at Evensong, talk to Wendy Woodworth. Their emails are on the back of the Notices inside each service leaflet.

  • Thinking about serving at the altar? Speak with Vince Meade or email Fr. Humphrey. Training will be provided at times that fit your schedule.

  • The Altar Guild is always looking for responsible, detail-oriented people. Speak to Anna Kennedy or David Jones if you would like to learn more, or send an email to office@stthomas.on.ca.

  • Are you an admirer of the beautiful flower arrangements on the altars? Want to learn how to do this? Speak with Lindsay Squire or email the office.

  • Are you a friendly, social person? Why not consider joining one of the Coffee Hour teams? Speak to Fr. Humphrey for the 9:30 Coffee Hour, Kevin Blagrave for the one following the 11:00 am service, or email the office.

  • Do you enjoy cooking or planning parties? St. Thomas’s Hospitality Team would appreciate your input! Please speak with Laurie Bickerton or MerryAnne Stuart or or email the office.

  • The Friday Food Ministry is always in need of people to help out with the shopping, cooking, serving, and cleanup. We also accept donations! Please contact Wendy Goodwin at fridayfoodministry@stthomas.on.ca if you can help.

  • Interested in getting involved in our ministries to children and youth? Alison Juurinen, our Church School & Youth Ministry Coordinator, would be happy to hear from you! You can be in touch with her via ajuurinen@stthomas.on.ca.

  • Is one of your children or grandchildren fond of singing? We’re always seeking good singers for the St. Thomas’s Choristers. Contact Philip Fillion for more information at pfillion@stthomas.on.ca. Is office work more your speed? No problem!
